How To Make Spinach Casserole
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prep a 2 qt casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Thaw out frozen spinach in microwave for 10 minutes (check package for exact instructions) or leave in fridge overnight to defrost.
Open packages of spinach and add to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Slice softened cream cheese into pieces (for easier mixing) and add to spinach.
Add one cup seasoned breadcrumbs and mix until combined. Sprinkle in 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Stir again to incorporate.
Pour mixture into casserole dish. Use a spoon to spread out evenly in dish. Top with 1/4 grated parmesan cheese. Bake for 25 minutes.
Cooking Tips
- You can prep your dish with nonstick spray or brush with melted butter or oil
- This recipe can be made with frozen or fresh spinach. Be sure to defrost frozen spinach before mixing with other ingredients
- Soften cream cheese by leaving it on the counter for an hour or microwaving for 30 seconds. The hot spinach will also help to melt cream cheese
- Add salt and pepper to taste, to account for seasoning in breadcrumbs
Can You Substitute Fresh Spinach For Frozen Spinach?
In most recipes, yes! Just make sure you use a larger amount of fresh spinach (as frozen spinach has already shrank down during the cooking process) and you may need to drain the spinach if it releases too much water.
What To Serve With Spinach Casserole
A healthy (and easy!) protein goes deliciously with this casserole. Pull out the air fryer and try BBQ Pork Chops, Kielbasa Polish Sausage, or Turkey Breast Cutlets, or Frozen Tilapia. Spinach casserole compliments so many foods.
