Simple Fried Tomatoes

Looking for keto-friendly or low-carb dishes with lots of flavor? These Pan Fried Tomatoes will hit the spot! You can fry them up in 5 minutes, adding any seasonings you love on tomatoes. This recipe calls for seasoning the tomatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, but you can add any seasonings of your choice. Some yummy herbs for topping tomatoes: basil, thyme, rosemary, paprika, onion powder, or Italian seasoning. How To Make Pan Fried Tomatoes

Start by prepping the tomatoes. Wash them and slice off the ends. Next cut them into even slices.

Heat a pan to high heat and add olive oil, if you choose to cook with it. Lay out the tomato slices in the pan. Top with a sprinkle of seasonings.

Once the oil in the pan start sizzling, turn heat down to med-high. Cook for 3 minutes.

Flip the tomato slices over and cook for another 2 minutes. Once tomato slices are browned on both sides, remove from pan with a spatula. Place on serving plate or in bowl.

Cooking Tips

  • Oil is optional if you are using a nonstick pan. It does add flavor. You can use any type of vegetable oil.
  • Add tomatoes to pan in a single layer to help them cook evenly
  • Wait until oil in pan starts sizzling before reducing heat and browning the tomato slices

Use a sharp knife and cut the tomato horizontally into even slices. You want to fry the slices in a pan that fits them snugly, in a single layer.
