I know- Beef liver is one of those fringe types of meat – you either love it or your hate it, there really isn’t any in-between.

Thankfully, this recipe is one of the best ways I have found to cook beef liver and onions. Since it uses the air fryer, you don’t have to babysit the stove!

How To Cook Beef Liver and Onions In The Air Fryer

Here’s how to make flavorful beef liver and onions in your air fryer!

Prepare the air fryer basket by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray.

Slice the liver and onion into thin slices. I recommend using a mandolin slicer on the onions if you want to speed up this step.

Then, season all of it with as much salt as you want.

Add the sliced liver and onions mixture to the bottom of the air fryer basket.

Cook the liver and onions in the air fryer at 400F for about 12 minutes.

Halfway through cooking, open the air fryer and mix everything up really well.

Serve and enjoy!

Cooking Tips

  • Use an instant-read food thermometer to check the temperature of the beef liver before you eat it. Liver should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165F.
  • Remember to spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or else the beef liver and onions will stick to the basket.
  • Any type of onions will taste delicious in this recipe. I used a sweet white onion and found it tasted the best with the liver!

What To Serve With Air-Fried Liver and Onions

This beef liver and onions recipe make a wonderful main course, so serve your favorite side dishes along with it. I can see this tasting amazing with some roasted sweet potatoes. Or, add some mashed potatoes on the side.

It will also taste really good with your favorite salad. I love this chopped salad – it goes with almost anything!

This is a meat-heavy dish, so don’t forget to add some healthy vegetables on the side. Roasted cauliflower is very easy and one of my most popular recipes.
