Smashed Potatoes In The Air Fryer

We love using the air fryer to make golden brown, seasoned smashed potatoes. It’s such an easy recipe! The potatoes crisp up quickly after you “smash” them with a jar or glass. Season with salt, pepper, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning for yummy potatoes that go with all kinds of main dishes.

How To Make Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes

Wash a batch of yellow potatoes. No need to peel them- the peel is edible and delicious.

Next cook the potatoes until fork tender. We used an air fryer at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Once potatoes are cooked, lay them out on a cutting board or a couple of plates. Use the bottom of a jar or glass to “smash” the potatoes so that they flatten (see photos).

Pour about a Tablespoon of olive oil into a small dish. Use a pastry brush to coat potatoes in olive oil. Season them with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Flip all the potatoes over and top again with oil and seasonings.

Open up air fryer and layer potatoes in basket. Heat at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

Once potatoes are done cooking, open up air fryer and use a spoon or tongs to move potatoes from basket to a serving bowl.

How Long Does It Take For Small Potatoes To Get Soft In The Air Fryer?

To cook yellow or red small potatoes in the air fryer, heat them for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Check doneness by piercing potatoes with fork. They should be tender inside but still firm enough to slice.
