How To Make Guacamole With One Avocado

  1. Take a ripe avocado. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out the avocado flesh with a spoon. Make sure the avocado is fresh and does not have any brown in it – spoiled avocado is a no-no for us, true avocado lovers! If the avocado is questionable, toss it – when in doubt, throw it out! For this simple guacamole recipe, the avocado must be top quality, ripe and fresh. Since there are no fillers to mask the taste of avocado, the guacamole will be as good as the avocado that goes into it!
  2. Put the avocado in a bowl. Mash the avocado with the fork, and sprinkle with some salt. Make sure to taste the guacamole before putting too much salt – we want the salt to bring out the taste of avocado, not overpower it.

That’s it! Avocado and salt make the easiest guacamole recipe ever.  Everything genious is simple, and this simple guacamole recipe is not exception.

Enjoy your simple easiest guacamole.  Serve with chips, or if you don’t have them on hand you can just eat your guac with a big spoon… without anything else to interfere with your avocado-eating experience!

If you are not sold on “avocado only guacamole”, you can add other ingredients to it and customize it to your liking.  This recipe is the simplest guacamole base, and here are the other guacamole ingredients you can add to taste:

  • Finely chopped fresh tomatoes
  • Finely chopped tomatoes from can (without juice)
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Salsa
  • Corn kernels (from fresh corn or frozen thawed corn or canned)
  • Minced garlic or garlic powder
  • Finely chopped bell pepper
  • Minced jalapeno pepper

Avocado is a fruit, and guacamole is a dip made out of avocado.  So the answer is no, guacamole and avocado are not the same thing :)  Avocado is an ingredient in a guacamole recipe.

How much guacamole equals one avocado?

One average-size avocado makes approximately 1/2 cup of guacamole (assuming it’s a simple avocado-only guacamole).  Smaller avocados make less guacamole.  If you mix-in other ingredients, you’ll increase the guacamole yield.

How many calories is in 1 serving of guac?

It depends on a serving size. Standard serving size of guacamole is 2 tablespoons, which to mean sounds like a joke :)   In my world, one avocado make enough guac for one hungry person (or for two less hungry people).  One avocado contains 322 calories.  So if you are eating it all in one sitting, that’s 322 calories per serving, and if you are eating half of it, that would be 161 calories.

What can you do with one avocado?

Make this avocado-only guacamole! You can also chop it up and add it to salads, or cut it into thin slices and add sliced avocado to sandwiches, wraps or burgers.  It also goes great served alongside scrambled eggs!

Can guacamole just be avocado?

Yes, yes, yes! This is what this simple guacamole recipe is all about – avocado in its purest form!

Is it OK to eat an avocado a day?

Avocado is a natural whole food that has lots of health benefits, so eating an avocado a day can be part of a healthy diet. Avocado is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, K, copper, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium.  They also contain a good amount of fiber, protein and healthy monounsaturated fats.

Is guacamole OK on a diet?

If you are trying to lose weight, you can still enjoy your guac! Avocado is a low-carb food, so if you are watching carbs it will fit perfectly into your diet.  A whole avocado contains 322 calories which is less then a slice of cake :) Just be mindful of total calories, and as long as the avocado fits into your daily calorie limit you can absolutely eat avocados and still lose weight.

  1. Yum, I will try this. I don’t like onion and tomato in guacamole, but I do use a little garlic, a little chilli and a squeeze of lime juice. The lime helps bring out the flavour too. You may get tastier avocadoes than we do in UK – I don’t think they like flying very much.
