Kitchen Tools You Need To Make Air Fryer Breakfast Sausage Patties
- Air Fryer: Essential for cooking the sausage patties to crispy perfection without extra oil.
- Spatula: Helpful for placing and removing the patties from the air fryer safely.

I like to keep some in the freezer and then take out to thaw the night before I want to use them in the air fryer so they will be ready to go! Or if you want to cook them straight from frozen, that works too – just put frozen sausage patties in the air fryer and add an extra 5 minutes to cooking time!
My family loves eating these with some ketchup and hash browns!
You don’t need to use any oil when cooking these but they will still be nice and brown when done from the air fryer.
You could also serve them for a weekend brunch with family or friends. Just make a few batches so there is enough for everyone if serving a large group!
How to Prepare Air Fryer Breakfast Sausage Patties
These are very simple to make, even if you’ve never made sausage patties before!
Just pick up a package of fresh, not frozen, sausage patties from the store. If you have some in your freezer, make sure to thaw out before following this recipe.
I used 6 patties because that is how many fit in my air fryer in a single layer. You can use more if your air fryer is bigger than mine. But make sure they are in an even layer to promote browning.
Just place the patties in the air fryer as pictured above, using a spatula. Insert the basket into the air fryer.
Then set the temperature of the air fryer to 390F for 9 minutes. That’s all you have to do!
When finished, remove carefully as they will be hot. Place on a serving plate.
What to Serve with Air Fried Breakfast Sausage Patties

Tips For Success
- Even Layer Cooking: Always arrange the sausage patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Overlapping or stacking can prevent even cooking and browning.
- No Need for Oil: The sausage releases its natural fats during cooking, so there’s no need to add oil. This keeps the recipe simple and healthier.
- Adjust for Frozen Patties: If you’re cooking frozen sausage patties, increase the cooking time by 5 minutes for a total of 14 minutes at 390°F.
- Check for Doneness: Ensure the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160°F for safe consumption. Use a meat thermometer if needed.
- Cook in Batches: If you’re feeding a crowd, make multiple batches. Keep the cooked patties warm by placing them in a low-temperature oven (around 200°F) until ready to serve.
- Custom Seasoning: If using unseasoned sausage meat, you can add your favorite spices or herbs like sage, thyme, or paprika for a personalized flavor.
Variations and Substitutions
- Spicy Sausage Patties: Use spicy breakfast sausage or add a dash of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the patties for extra heat.
- Herbed Sausage Patties: Mix in fresh herbs like sage, thyme, or parsley to enhance the flavor of plain sausage meat.
- Turkey or Chicken Patties: Substitute pork sausage with turkey or chicken for a leaner alternative. Adjust the cooking time slightly if needed, as these can cook faster.
- Homemade Patties: Shape your own patties from ground meat and season with your preferred mix of spices for a fully customized recipe.
- Vegetarian Option: Use plant-based sausage patties that cook similarly in the air fryer. Check packaging for any adjustments to cooking time.
- Breakfast Sliders: Serve the patties on mini buns with cheese and a fried egg for a fun, slider-style breakfast.
Storage and Reheating
- Refrigeration: Store any leftover sausage patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: Place cooled patties in a freezer-safe container or bag, separated by parchment paper, to prevent sticking. They can be frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheating in the Air Fryer: Reheat refrigerated patties at 350°F for 3-4 minutes or frozen patties for 6-7 minutes. This will bring back their crispy texture.
- Microwave Option: For a quicker option, reheat in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, but note that they may lose some crispiness.
- Oven Method: Warm in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes for even heating.
