How To Make Parmesan Crusted Cod Fish
Start out by preheating your oven to 425 degrees and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent the fish from sticking to the baking sheet and make clean-up much easier.
Next, crack an egg into a bowl and whisk it up.
Add your dry ingredients to another bowl: parmesan cheese, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Use a fork to stir up and combine all the ingredients. Then pour onto a plate or shallow bowl.
Coat each cod fillet in the egg then the dry ingredients. Place on baking sheet with plenty of space between each fillet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until fish is cooked through.
Cooking Tips
- You can use any seasonings you love on fish
- Be sure to coat both sides of fish and gently press the seasonings onto the fillet
- Ovens cook differently. If the fish does not seem cooked through by the end of cooking time, add another 5 minutes in the oven
Why Is Cod Fish So Popular For Cooking?
Cod fish is popular with cooks and eaters alike, for its mild flavor, low fat content, and dense texture. It takes on the flavor of the ingredients of the dish and is palatable to even those who don’t like all seafood. Once cooked, it is moist and fork-tender.
How Do You Avoid Cod Fish Becoming “Rubbery” When Baked?
Using parchment paper on your baking sheets. Not only will it help with clean-up, but it creates a dry surface for the cod fish to crisp up on the bottom of the fillet.
