Ingredients For Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites
- Ritz Crackers – These buttery and slightly salty crackers provide the perfect base for the appetizer. Their light texture complements the rich and creamy Brie cheese.
- Brie Cheese – A soft, creamy cheese that melts slightly when paired with the cranberry sauce, adding a luxurious and rich flavor to each bite. The mild taste of Brie balances the tartness of the cranberry sauce.
- Cranberry Sauce – Sweet and tangy cranberry sauce adds a burst of flavor and a pop of color to these bites. You can use homemade or store-bought cranberry sauce, depending on your preference and time.
If you are trying to keep it low-carb, you can use keto parmesan cheese crisps instead of the Ritz crackers. I found that the cheese crisps actually pair really well with the cranberry and the brie!
Kitchen Tools You Need To Make Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites
- Cutting Board – A clean, flat surface to slice the Brie cheese into perfect bite-sized pieces.
- Sharp Knife – Essential for slicing the Brie cheese smoothly without crushing it. A sharp knife ensures clean cuts, making for a more presentable appetizer.
- Small Spoon – Used to scoop and spread the cranberry sauce onto the crackers. A small spoon allows for better control and precision.
- Serving Platter – A large, flat platter to arrange and serve your finished Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites. The platter helps present the bites beautifully, ready for your guests to enjoy.
How To Make Cranberry Brie Crackers
This is one of the easiest recipes you will ever make!
The first thing I do is get out all of the Ritz crackers and place them on an appetizer serving platter.
Then, spread the crackers with your favorite cranberry sauce. I sometimes will make my own cranberry sauce in the Instant Pot but if I don’t have time, I will just buy the canned version at the store. Both work!
Finally, just top the crackers with a little bit of brie cheese. They are ready to serve!
Cooking Tips
- If you want to add another layer of flavor try making this homemade version of cranberry-orange sauce recipe to add the to crakers. It’s lip-smacking good!
- If you don’t have any brie, the next-best thing is camembert cheese. It’s a very similar cheese produced in Normandy, France.
Serving Suggestions for Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites
- Pair with a Cheese Board: Serve these bites alongside a selection of cheeses, fruits, and nuts on a cheese board. The combination of different textures and flavors will complement the cranberry and Brie perfectly, creating an elegant spread.
- Wine Pairing: These bites pair wonderfully with a glass of chilled white wine, such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. The acidity and fruitiness of the wine enhance the flavors of the Brie and cranberry, making it a delightful pairing for a cocktail party.
- Holiday Presentation: For a festive touch, arrange the Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites in a circular pattern on a platter to resemble a wreath. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs to add a pop of green and a hint of herbal aroma that complements the dish.
- Serve Warm or Cold: While these bites are delicious at room temperature, you can also serve them slightly warm by popping them in the oven for a couple of minutes. The Brie will become even creamier, offering a different but equally delightful texture.
- Accompany with a Salad: Serve these bites as an appetizer before a light salad course. A salad with mixed greens, candied pecans, and a balsamic vinaigrette will balance the richness of the Brie and the sweetness of the cranberry sauce.
What To Serve With This Easy Cheese Cracker Appetizer
This type of appetizer is really the best kind of party food. I love serving these on a table with other finger foods like sliced cucumbers topped with smoked salmon cream cheese and sliced buffalo chicken quesadillas.
I also like to make a batch of air-fried roasted figs to serve alongside any extra brie cheese I might have leftover. That is another yummy flavor combo!
Since the cranberry is so tart and has such a vibrant flavor, I would recommend serving a fruity drink on the side. This keto sangria is amazing!

Tips For Success
To ensure your Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites turn out perfectly, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Use room temperature Brie: Brie cheese is much easier to slice when it’s at room temperature. This also helps it spread and meld with the cranberry sauce more smoothly. Take the Brie out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you plan to prepare the bites.
- Choose the right cranberry sauce: While any cranberry sauce will work, opting for a whole-berry cranberry sauce adds extra texture and visual appeal. If using store-bought, make sure it’s not too runny, as this could cause the sauce to slide off the crackers.
- Assemble just before serving: Ritz crackers can become soft if they sit with the toppings for too long. To keep them crisp, assemble the bites right before serving. If you need to prepare ahead of time, keep the ingredients separate and quickly assemble when your guests arrive.
- Experiment with add-ons: For added crunch and flavor, try topping each bite with a small piece of candied pecan or walnut. A sprinkle of chopped fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary can also enhance the flavor profile and give a more sophisticated touch.
- Balance the flavors: Brie is rich and buttery, so be sure to use just the right amount of cranberry sauce to balance it. Too much can overpower the cheese, while too little might not provide enough contrast. A small dollop is usually sufficient.
- Keep it neat: To avoid messy bites, use a small spoon to precisely place the cranberry sauce on top of the Brie. This will ensure each bite looks as good as it tastes and prevents the sauce from sliding off.
- Offer a variety: If you’re serving a large group, consider offering a few variations on the toppings. For example, add a slice of apple or pear to some bites, or drizzle a few with honey. This variety will cater to different tastes and make your platter even more appealing.
When you set these out on a plate, they are going to go fast! They are the perfect appetizer because they are easy to grab and there is nothing quite like the combination of cranberry and brie.
Variations And Substitutions
Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites are already a versatile and delicious appetizer, but there are plenty of ways to adapt this recipe to suit different tastes, dietary needs, or simply to add a new twist. Here are some variations and substitutions you can try:
- Gluten-Free Option: If you’re catering to guests with gluten sensitivities, simply swap out the Ritz crackers for a gluten-free cracker. Many brands offer gluten-free options that are just as tasty and provide the same crunchy base for the bites. Be sure to check that the other ingredients you use, such as the cranberry sauce, are also gluten-free.
- Vegan Version: For a plant-based version, replace the Brie cheese with a vegan Brie alternative. There are several brands available that mimic the creamy texture and rich flavor of Brie. Additionally, use a plant-based cranberry sauce or make your own to ensure it’s vegan-friendly. You can also swap out the Ritz crackers for a vegan cracker if needed.
- Different Cheese Options: While Brie is a classic choice, you can experiment with other cheeses to change up the flavor profile. For a sharper taste, try using Camembert, which has a similar texture to Brie but with a slightly stronger flavor. Goat cheese is another great option, adding a tangy contrast to the sweet cranberry sauce. If you prefer something milder, a creamy Havarti or a slice of Gouda could be excellent substitutes.
- Fruit Substitutions: If you’re not a fan of cranberry sauce or want to try something different, consider using other fruit spreads. Fig jam pairs wonderfully with Brie and adds a rich, deep sweetness. Apricot preserves or raspberry jam can also be used to give the bites a different fruity twist. For a fresher option, you could top the cheese with a slice of fresh pear or apple, which adds a crisp texture and a refreshing contrast.
- Add Some Crunch: Enhance the texture of the bites by adding a crunchy topping. Chopped nuts like pecans, walnuts, or almonds can be sprinkled over the cranberry sauce to add a nutty flavor and a satisfying crunch. For a bit of sweetness, try adding candied nuts or a drizzle of honey over the top.
- Spice It Up: If you prefer a bit of heat, you can add a spicy element to the bites. A thin slice of jalapeño or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes can provide a spicy kick that contrasts nicely with the creamy Brie and sweet cranberry sauce. Another option is to use a spicy cranberry chutney instead of the traditional cranberry sauce.
- Garnish with Herbs: Fresh herbs can elevate the flavor of your Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites and add a touch of color. A small sprig of rosemary or thyme on top of each bite not only adds a burst of herbal flavor but also makes the presentation more attractive. Basil or mint could also work well, depending on the other flavors you’re incorporating.
Storage and Reheating
If you have leftovers or want to prepare Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites in advance, here’s how to store and reheat them while maintaining their optimal taste and texture:
- Storage: To store any leftover Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites, first ensure they are assembled just before serving. If you plan to store assembled bites, place them in an airtight container in a single layer to avoid crushing the crackers. Use a container that provides a snug fit to minimize air exposure, which can make the crackers soft. Store them in the refrigerator, where they will keep for up to 2 days.
- Preparing in Advance: If you want to prepare these bites ahead of time, it’s best to store the components separately. Keep the sliced Brie cheese in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and store the cranberry sauce in another container. The Ritz crackers should be kept in their original packaging or in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their crispness. When you’re ready to serve, simply assemble the bites by placing the Brie and cranberry sauce on the crackers.
- Reheating: These bites are typically served at room temperature, but if you prefer them slightly warm, you can reheat them. To do so, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the bites on a baking sheet and warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes, just until the Brie begins to soften and the crackers are warmed through. Be careful not to leave them in too long, as the crackers can become too soft or even soggy.
- Re-crisping Crackers: If the crackers become soft during storage, you can try re-crisping them before serving. Place the crackers on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes. This should help restore some of their original crispness. Once re-crisped, quickly assemble the bites and serve immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some frequently asked questions about Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites to help you make this recipe with confidence:
Can I use a different type of cracker instead of Ritz?
Yes, you can definitely use a different type of cracker if you prefer. While Ritz crackers are a popular choice because of their buttery flavor and light texture, other options like water crackers, whole wheat crackers, or even gluten-free crackers work well. Just make sure the cracker you choose is sturdy enough to hold the toppings without getting soggy quickly.
What type of cranberry sauce works best for this recipe?
Both homemade and store-bought cranberry sauce can be used for this recipe. If you prefer a chunkier texture, opt for a whole-berry cranberry sauce, which adds extra texture and a more rustic feel to the bites. If you want a smoother finish, a jellied cranberry sauce will work perfectly. Just make sure the sauce isn’t too runny, as this could cause it to slide off the cracker.
How far in advance can I make these appetizers?
You can prepare the ingredients in advance and store them separately until you’re ready to serve. The cheese and cranberry sauce can be prepped up to 1 day ahead and stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator. However, it’s best to assemble the bites just before serving to ensure the crackers stay crisp.
Can I make this recipe vegan?
Yes, you can make a vegan version of this recipe by substituting the Brie cheese with a vegan Brie alternative. There are several plant-based Brie options available that mimic the creamy texture and flavor of traditional Brie. Additionally, ensure that your cranberry sauce and crackers are vegan-friendly.
What can I add to the bites for extra flavor?
There are many ways to add extra flavor to your Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites. You can top the cranberry sauce with chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts for a bit of crunch. A drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme can also enhance the flavor. For a bit of spice, consider adding a thin slice of jalapeño or a dash of red pepper flakes.
How should I serve these at a party?
For a party, arrange the Cranberry Brie Ritz Cracker Bites on a large platter in a circular pattern to create a visually appealing presentation. Garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs for a festive touch. You can also serve them alongside a cheese board or with a selection of wines that complement the flavors, such as a crisp Chardonnay or a fruity Pinot Noir.
Can I freeze these bites?
It’s not recommended to freeze the assembled bites, as the texture of the crackers and cheese may be compromised after thawing. However, you can freeze the Brie cheese and cranberry sauce separately if needed. Thaw them in the refrigerator before assembling the bites. Keep in mind that frozen Brie might not slice as smoothly as fresh, so it’s best to use fresh ingredients when possible.
What if my crackers get soggy?
If your crackers become soggy, they likely absorbed too much moisture from the toppings. To avoid this, assemble the bites just before serving. If they’ve already become soggy, you can try re-crisping the crackers by placing them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes before topping them with the Brie and cranberry sauce.
