Sautéed Frozen Vegetables Recipe

Did you know that you can saute frozen vegetables? Well, you can and it’s not only super easy but delicious too! You don’t even have to defrost them first. And I find that when vegetables are cooked from frozen they stay nice and crisp. It’s also a great way to save money and eat veggies that may be out of season.

But what I really love the most about this recipe is both how the frozen vegetables cook perfectly in the frying pan and the combination of seasonings. I decided to use soy sauce in place of salt and then added a bit of garlic powder and red pepper flakes. Of course, you can omit the pepper flakes if you prefer but I like the extra touch of heat.

The sauteed frozen vegetables work fantastically well as a healthy side dish served with your favorite mains. Yet, you can also add some chicken or beef and turn the veggies into a complete meal with a side of rice. Also, feel free to use any type of frozen vegetables and add any additional seasonings you like. They are also delicious with a side of my Sweet and Spicy Sriracha Sauce.

To begin, add some olive oil or vegetable oil to a large frying pan before turning the stove on. You can use as little or as much as you like. However, if you aren’t using a nonstick pan you may need to add more. Then turn the heat on to high and add the bag of frozen vegetables to the pan.

Now, just wait for the oil to start sizzling. Once it does, toss the vegetables around the pan and flip them over to saute. Then continue cooking the vegetables for about 4 minutes. Yet, as they saute you need to continue flipping them about once every minute to ensure that they cook evenly. Then when they begin to brown a bit, lower the heat to medium and continue cooking the vegetables for about 3 minutes or until they are tender.

Once the vegetables are done to your liking sprinkle them with some of the soy sauce, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes to season. Then mix everything together once more and serve.

Leftover sauteed frozen vegetables will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days when covered or kept in an airtight container. You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. To reheat,  just cover them and pop them in the microwave for about 3 minutes on medium power or in a frying pan on the stove.
