I love nuts in any form, especially in a sweet form. Gimme some nuts and add some sugar, and in less than a minute there’ll be none of those nuts left. Especially if it’s pecans! Sweet pecans like these candied pecans – yummmmm!
So a pecan pie is like a celebration of all things pecan and sugar. A flaky buttery pie crust filled with chewy sweet pecan filling – amazing! Pecan lovers will rejoice tasting these huge crunchy pecan halves in a sweet and sticky filling, this combo is mouthwatering!
If you were looking for pecan recipes online, I’m sure you noticed that most of them are using corn syrup as essential pecan pie ingredient. In this day and age, corn syrup got such a bad rep though that nobody wants to willingly put it in their mouth. If you get a pecan pie at the bakery, you eat it without over-analyzing it – after all, “what you don’t know won’t hurt you” :) But having to purchase corn syrup for a recipe and pouring a cup of it into a pie makes most people cringe. I have great news for you – this easy pecan pie recipe doesn’t have any corn syrup in it!
Can a pecan pie recipe without corn syrup taste like authentic Southern pecan pie? You betcha! This is as real of a pecan pie as it gets! Brown sugar produces that gooey sticky sweet filling – who needs a corn syrup after all!
This Southern pecan pie filling is made from simple old-fashioned ingredients – brown sugar, white sugar, butter, eggs, flour, milk and vanilla. No corn syrup needed!
Making a pecan pie is really easy – just mix all the ingredients together, pour into a pie crust and bake. You can use a store-bought pie crust or make your own by using my easy homemade pie crust recipe.
