Oyster Mushrooms Cooked In A Skillet
This recipe is fabulous for making perfectly cooked mushrooms that you can enjoy as a side dish or add to soups, stir fry’s, or even burgers. The mushrooms cook up tender and flavorful. It’s a quick & easy dish that you’ll make time and again.
Oyster mushrooms are super good for you, and have some of the most fiber of any edible mushrooms. When cooked on a skillet, they become soft and soak up the seasonings you use. This results in a tasty side dish that’s low carb and healthy! We love how nicely browned and tender these mushrooms cook up.

How To Make Pan Fried Oyster Mushrooms
Wash entire mushrooms and set aside.
Add oil to frying pan and heat to high while you chop the mushrooms.
Slice the mushrooms away from the (inedible) stems. Discard stems- or save to use in vegetable broth. Chop oyster mushrooms into pieces.
Add mushrooms to frying pan and wait until the oil starts to sizzle. We used olive oil in this recipe, but you can feel free to use any kind of vegetable oil.
Use a spatula to mix up mushrooms in the pan and lower the heat to medium high. Cook for about 9 minutes, stirring every minute, until oyster mushrooms are tender and cooked though.
Now it’s time to season them. Add soy sauce, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir mushrooms to coat in the seasonings. Allow everything to cook for another minute.
Use a spatula to move mushrooms from the skillet to a serving bowl or plate.
Cooking Tips
- Cook with about a Tablespoon of olive oil. You can add less if using a nonstick pan
- Salt can be used in place of soy sauce, although the soy sauce does add more flavor
- Keep an eye on the mushrooms during cooking time, you may need to turn down the heat if they burning before they are cooked through
- Season the mushrooms at the end of the pan frying process, as they shrink when cooked
