Using your Instant Pot, this take on southern blackeye peas will leave you speechless! The Instant Pot makes everything easy to prepare, and these black eyed peas are no exception. With just three simple ingredients, your Instant Pot, and two quick steps, you have a side dish fit for royalty. No need for standing over a hot stove or time stirring and stirring. No need for secret ingredients and long preparation time. These Instant Pot Black Eyed Peas are as yummy as they simple to prepare.

All you need for this recipe is a pound a black eyed peas, two teaspoons of salt, and six cups of water. Put all of your ingredients in the Instant Pot before closing the lid and turning the valve to Sealing position. Press the “Pressure Cook” or “Manual” button, then set the time to thirty minutes on High pressure. Your hands-on time is done! When the timer goes off, quick release the steam and your Instant Pot Black Eyed Peas are ready for the dinner table!

  • 2 tsp salt

  1. Just made this today. I made as written but I did add a small package of diced ham as suggested. So Good!! So Easy (why I tried it). I’m unfamiliar with Black Eyed Peas but this will now be in my weekly rotation. Love it. Might top some hulled barley for lunch this week!! I might add a bit of liquid smoke next time. Thank Ms Melanie!!
    PS Loved your instant pot beef stew as well. Make it often!!

    1. Made this for the third time just now. Used no salt chicken broth per instructions. Makes a huge jump in flavor. At least for me. I think I’ll make with broth from now on. A couple dashes of green Tabasco Sauce is highly recommended!! :)

          We just finished dinner and oh boy was it great with the Kilbasa.It is just the 2 of us so we have plenty of leftovers so I don’t have to cook at least 1 day next week.Love it thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe.
