Microwave Cinnamon Apple Slices

I was recently making a batch of my air fryer baked apples to serve as a fun dessert for my family and I had SO many apples leftover. And, that was after I had used some to make applesauce in my instant pot and meal prepped apple cinnamon oatmeal squares for breakfast.

So I figured since I love eating apple slices as a healthy snack, why not “bake” them in the microwave with a dash of cinnamon as a treat?

Let me tell you- they turned out amazing! This is such an easy and simple snack or dessert to make. It literally takes just a few minutes of your time.

Best Apples To Use

For this specific recipe, I decided to use a Honeycrisp apple. Granny smith apples also work really well!

I personally wouldn’t worry too much about the kind of apple you choose. Whichever one is your favorite or whatever you have on hand works!

How To Make Cinnamon Apple Slices In The Microwave

Before you do anything, make sure you take the time to thoroughly wash the apples before cutting them into slices.

Using a sharp knife or an apple corer slicer, cut the apple into even slices.

Add the apple slices to a microwave-safe bowl or plate and add the water.

Sprinkle the apple slices with ground cinnamon and microwave them for about 4 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

Cooking Tips:

  • Besides the cinnamon, you can also add a few dashes of nutmeg to really intensify the flavor.
  • I also recommend making a batch of apple slices with apple pie seasoning to change it up!

What To Serve With Cinnamon Apples

While these cinnamon apple slices are a delicious healthy snack all on their own, I sometimes like to make my own homemade chocolate hazelnut spread (tastes just like Nutella!) to serve as a dip.

You can also serve them with some:

Sometimes, when I really want to pull out all the stops, I’ll add a scoop of my favorite vanilla ice cream over the top and it’s my absolute favorite! The apples are all soft and sweet with a subtle hint of spiciness from the cinnamon along with the creaminess of the ice cream… stunning!

The recipe where you heat apple slices in the microwave with cinnamon on them.. I know you’re using a microwave-safe bowl but do you leave it uncovered while it is cooking in the microwave? Also I wasn’t sure and I left the apple peel on. Also peeling the apple is probably more tasty I cooked it with skin on..
