You can even make a few of these cookie mix jars for yourself to keep in your pantry :)  If you have a craving for homemade chocolate chip cookies, this is the quickest way to make them (aside from freezing the cookie dough)!

This delicious chocolate chip cookie mix is all natural, has no chemicals or preservatives, and uses the most common ingredients – flour, baking soda, salt, white sugar, brown sugar and chocolate chips.  Such simple ingredients combined together make this fancy looking homemade gift – without a trip to a gourmet store and without a gourmet store budget!

You can get mason jars pretty cheap by the dozen in Target, Walmart on on Amazon.  The mason jar that you need for this cookie mix is a quart size.

The beauty of this chocolate chip cookie mix is in its layers.  White flour, brown sugar, white sugar and brown chocolate chips create amazing layers that make this cookie mix jar so much more exciting!

Just layer the ingredients in a mason jar, then close the jar and decorate it.  The easiest way to decorate a mason jar cookie mix is to put a circle of burlap, colorful cloth or even a color tissue paper on the lid, then tie a ribbon around the lid – that’s it!

Don’t forget to include the instructions on how to bake the cookies with your cookie mix :)  Print the instructions, then either tape them to the jar, put them inside the jar (on top of the chocolate chips), or punch a hole in the instructions paper and tie it to the top of the jar with the ribbon.

DYI Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix In A Mason Jar

Making this amazing homemade mason jar cookie mix is so easy! Beautiful layers of flour, brown sugar, white sugar and chocolate chips make a perfect gift!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Put the flour mixture in a 1 quart size mason jar, and press down with your hand to pat down the mixture.
  • Add brown sugar to the jar, patting down with your hand to making it into a smooth layer.
  • Add white sugar to the jar, making a smooth layer.
  • Add the chocolate chips to the jar.
  • Close the mason jar with a lid.
  • To decorate, put the burlap or tissue paper on top of the lid, then tie a ribbon around it.

Notes

With your gift, please include these directions how to make cookies from the mix:
Preheat oven to 375F. Mix 3/4 cup softened butter, 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla. Add cookie mix and stir until combined. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto non-stick cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
