First you will lightly spray the air fryer basket with the non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking. Or, you can brush lightly with vegetable oil or olive oil.

Then add in the pizza rolls in a single layer. If you want to make a lot, you can do them in batches.

You don’t want to overcrowd them or they won’t cook and crisp up evenly.

Set the temperature of the air fryer to 390F for 7 minutes.

After 4 minutes, take out the air fryer basket and shake it well to toss the pizza rolls and ensure even browning on all sides.

Then return the basket to the air fryer to finish cooking.

After they are done, serve and enjoy!

Tips For Success

  • Don’t Overcrowd the Basket: For the crispiest results, make sure to arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer. Overlapping can cause uneven cooking.
  • Shake Halfway Through: Shaking the basket at the halfway point ensures that all sides of the pizza rolls cook evenly and become perfectly crispy.
  • Use Non-Stick Spray or Oil: A light spray of non-stick cooking oil helps prevent the rolls from sticking and improves the overall texture.
  • Adjust Cooking Time if Necessary: Air fryer models vary, so keep an eye on the pizza rolls during the last minute of cooking. Some air fryers might need an extra minute or two for that perfect golden-brown crust.
  • Let Them Cool Slightly: The filling inside pizza rolls gets very hot! Allow them to cool for 1-2 minutes before eating to avoid burns.
  • Batch Cooking for Large Quantities: If you’re making a lot, cook in multiple batches to maintain the quality and crispiness of each roll.

Variations And Substitutions

  • Cheese-Only Option: If you prefer a vegetarian version, opt for cheese pizza rolls or a similar meatless variety. They cook just as perfectly in the air fryer.
  • Different Pizza Roll Flavors: Try sausage, supreme, or even spicy flavors to mix things up and cater to different tastes.
  • Homemade Pizza Rolls: Feeling adventurous? You can make your own pizza rolls using egg roll wrappers or pizza dough, filling them with your favorite toppings. Adjust the cooking time slightly as needed.
  • Gluten-Free Alternatives: Use gluten-free pizza rolls, widely available in many stores, to accommodate dietary restrictions without compromising on taste.
  • Add Seasoning for Extra Flavor: Sprinkle pizza rolls with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or grated Parmesan cheese right after cooking for an added burst of flavor.
  • Healthier Option: Choose brands that offer whole-grain or reduced-fat pizza rolls for a lighter version of this classic snack.
  • Vegan Option: Select plant-based pizza rolls available in stores or make your own with vegan cheese and meat substitutes.

Storage and Reheating

  • Storage: Place leftover pizza rolls in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Make sure they are completely cool before storing to maintain their texture.
  • Reheating in the Air Fryer: For best results, reheat the pizza rolls in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes. This will help restore their crispy texture.
  • Reheating in the Microwave: If you’re short on time, microwave the pizza rolls for 30-45 seconds. They’ll be warm but won’t retain their crispiness.
  • Freezing Leftovers: Although they come frozen, once cooked and cooled, you can freeze the pizza rolls again. Store them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months. Reheat directly in the air fryer at 375°F for 3-4 minutes when ready to eat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cook different brands of pizza rolls in the air fryer?

Yes! Most brands of frozen pizza rolls can be cooked in the air fryer using the same method. Cooking times may vary slightly, so keep an eye on them as they near the end of the cooking cycle.

Do I need to preheat the air fryer?

No, preheating isn’t necessary for this recipe. The air fryer will quickly reach the optimal temperature as it cooks.

What if my pizza rolls burst in the air fryer?

This can happen if they’re overcooked. Stick to the recommended cooking time and temperature, and check on them during the last minute or two of cooking to prevent bursting.

Can I cook multiple batches at once?

It’s best to cook in smaller batches to ensure even crisping. Overcrowding the basket can lead to uneven cooking results.

Can I use parchment paper in the air fryer for this recipe?

Yes, but ensure it’s air fryer-safe parchment paper. It can help with cleanup but isn’t necessary since the rolls don’t stick if the basket is sprayed with oil.

What sauces pair well with pizza rolls?

Marinara, ranch, garlic butter, and cheese dips are all excellent choices. You can also try spicy options like buffalo sauce or sriracha for extra kick.
