Air Fryer Whole Spaghetti Squash
Spaghetti squash can be cooked in so many different ways- like boiled, steamed, or roasted. You can even cook it in the instant pot!
Since I have been trying out so many fun new recipes in my air fryer, I thought why not air fry spaghetti squash?
I just thought about how tender the inside of the squash would be and how by cooking spaghetti squash whole I wouldn’t have to struggle with cutting the tough raw squash… I knew I needed to make this happen. If you are on the market for an air fryer, I recommend this model on Amazon.
Spaghetti squash has so many nutritional benefits. It’s actually considered to be nutrient-dense, so it’s low in calories but it full of incredible nutrients. This hearty vegetable has a good amount of fiber, antioxidants like vitamins A and C, as well as protein!
The best part is that this veggie is available year-round! So, you can make this air fried spaghetti squash any time you want.
How To Air Fry Spaghetti Squash
Before cooking the spaghetti squash, make sure to poke several holes in the whole spaghetti squash with a knife (click here for my favorite knives recommendation). This will help prevent it from exploding from internal pressure while it’s cooking.
Place the spaghetti squash in the air fryer basket and cook the spaghetti squash at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. Depending on the size of the squash, make sure to check in every once in a while to make sure it is cooking perfectly.
Remove the air fryer basket from the air fryer and let the squash cool down for about 15 minutes.
Word of caution: It will be very hot. So be careful when handling the squash.
Carefully remove the cooked whole spaghetti squash onto a plate. Cut it in half and scoop out the seeds in the middle. Did you know that there is such thing as a pumpkin seed scooper? Of course you can use a regular spoon, but if you eat a lot of squash, you’ll appreciate the convenience of a seed scraping gadget – check out seed remover for squash on Amazon.
Then, using a fork, separate the spaghetti squash into strands. Season the squash with a little bit of salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking Tips
If you don’t want to waste or throw anything away, you can actually save the seeds and throw them in the oven to roast. You can then use these in a delicious salad!
What To Serve With Spaghetti Squash
I love to use this air fried spaghetti squash in a lot of pasta dishes! Since it’s low carb and low calorie, I’ll replace the pasta with this spaghetti squash. It tastes amazing!

If you want to keep this dish vegetarian, you can serve it with a side of roasted broccoli and sprinkle some of this homemade everything bagel seasoning all over the top. So good!
