You have to skip the takeout on your next pizza night and try these! Cooked in the air fryer, these delicious pita pizzas are wonderfully crispy and the flavors of the toppings meld together so perfectly.  They are the ultimate personal pizzas!

These pizzas are vegetarian, and despite the cheese they are fairly low in fat. They make a great alternative to your usual takeout or frozen pizza.

They are also really easy to customize with all of your favorite toppings.

How To Make Air Fryer Pita Pizza

Making your own homemade pizza couldn’t be any quicker or easier! It’s just 10 minutes to build and cook this pita pizza, so there’s no reason not to try it!

Spray the inside of the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
Put the pita in the air fryer basket and brush the pita with olive oil.

Cook the pita pizza in the air fryer at 400F for 5 minutes.

Why cook pizza in an air fryer?

If you haven’t yet cooked pizza in your air fryer, you need to try it! The crust is so wonderfully crispy and light and cheese and tomato sauce meld together so perfectly. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!

It’s also so quick! Just 6 minutes cook time, what’s not to love! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these in the oven at 400F for around 10 minutes.

Can you make a pita pizza ahead of time?

These pizzas are so quick and easy to cook, they are great to make on a whim. If you want to get ahead of things, you can prep the pizza a few hours ahead of time and loosely cover in with plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge.

If you do have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat slices in the air fryer or in the oven.

What do you serve with pita pizza?

This pita pizza is perfect just by itself, that’s the joy of pizzas right?! It’s also great to serve alongside salads, fries and veggies. Try it with:

Can you freeze a pita pizza?

Yes! These pizzas are great for freezer meals and perfect when you need something yummy in a hurry!

Top the pita with the sauce and cheese and place in a freezer bag. If you are making more than one just separate them with layers of parchment paper. The pita pizzas can be cooked right from frozen.

What toppings can you put on a pita pizza?

I went with a classic cheese and tomato pizza, but they are so easy to make exactly how you want with all of your favorite toppings. Why not try adding:

  • Bell Pepper
  • Mushrooms
  • Red Onion
  • Cooked Ground Beef
  • Pepperoni
  • Pineapple

The options are endless, so have fun and experiment!

What’s the best pita bread to use?

I like to use a round white pita bread that fits right in the air fryer basket. I find the white pita gets really nice and crispy, but you can use whole grain one if you prefer. If you or someone in your family has a gluten intolerance, you can of course use a GF pita.
