Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Put hot dogs and water in the Instant Pot.  Close the lid and turn the valve to a Sealing position.  Press the "Pressure Cook" or "Manual" button and set the time to ZERO minutes on High Pressure (the hot dogs will cook while the Instant Pot is coming to pressure).
  • When it's done cooking, quick release (QR) the steam.

Notes

You can cook as few or as many hot dogs as you like, as long as they are bellow the "Max Fill" line of the Instant Pot. The amount of water stays at 1 cup no matter how many hot dogs you are cooking, and the cooking time is always 0 minutes on High pressure.

  1. I tried this technique for hot dogs for my office. Put 32 dogs in the pot with a cup of water. It actually took them about 15 minutes to come to pressure on high, so I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong there, since the recipe says 5 minutes. The only other problem I had was that the dogs I used (Ball Park All-Beef Bun-Length) all split down the middle or exploded at the ends. I’m thinking that may be a problem with the “plump when you cook em” feature of Ball Park franks? They tasted great, though, and everybody loved them. Thanks!

    1. More things in the IC, longer for it to come to pressure. I just did 8 hotdogs and I think it was around 5 minutes. Same thing with the hotdogs exploding, but they sure were yummy. I saw another one that said to cook them for 3 minutes and I’m glad I followed this one instead!

      1. After reading these two reviews about exploding hot dogs I cooked a differently. I put 6 dogs on the instant pot trivet and poked fork holes lightly on the ends and middle. No explosion and to me tasted less salty. I made a dozen once and added those to a steamer basket the same fork holes, excellent. Huge thanks to Melanie for her recipe.
