Honey Butter Sauce For Fried Chicken

This Fried Chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. After a toss in honey butter sauce, it’s a flavorful meal that you’ll want to make over and over again. And it’s so easy! A way better option than take out.

Pan frying the chicken is a cinch. Just coat the chicken pieces in egg and flour and cook in a skillet until golden brown. You can use any cooking oil you prefer: vegetable oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil. Once the chicken is cooked though, add the simple, homemade honey butter sauce to the pan and toss together. This coats each piece of chicken in sweet, rich sauce that adds so much flavor. You’ll love it!

How To Make Honey Butter Fried Chicken

Prep your pound of chicken by cutting it into small, bite-sized pieces.

Pour enough oil into a skillet to cover the bottom of the pan (about 1 Tablespoon). Heat to high.

Meanwhile, crack an egg into a small bowl and whisk it up. Pour 1/2 cup of flour onto a plate. Dip chicken pieces into egg and then flour. Toss chicken in ingredients to make sure it’s well coated.

Place chicken in pan. Repeat with the rest of the chicken pieces. Once the oil starts sizzling, reduce the heat to medium high and mix the chicken pieces up with a spatula.

Cook, stirring every minute, for about 8 minutes, or until chicken is fully cooked and brown on the outside. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Add butter to pan and set heat to medium high. Once butter melts, add the honey. Mix honey and butter together in the pan.

Add the chicken back in and toss to coat in honey butter mixture. Sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste and mix everything together once again.

Turn off the heat and move the chicken from the pan to a serving plate. It’s ready to enjoy!

Cooking Tips

  • Feel free to drop handfuls of the chicken into the egg and flour to speed up the process
  • Cooking time can vary slightly depending on the size of the chicken pieces and the heat of the pan
  • You can check doneness of chicken with a meat thermometer (should read at least 165 degrees) or by slicing a piece in half (all pink should be gone)
