If you’ve never cooked salmon in foil packets before, you’re about to see how easy it is. It’s a great method for those cooks who aren’t as experienced with cooking fish and might be unsure about cooking times or temperatures. All you need to do is season the fillets, tuck them in a foil packet, and cook them up in the instant pot. The fish comes out perfectly every time.

How To Make Salmon in the Instant Pot

Lay each salmon fillet atop one square sheet of aluminum foil. Brush the tops of the fish with olive oil using a pastry brush.

Sprinkle seasonings onto fish, then top each with a slice of lime. Fold up foil packets around fish fillets.

Pour one cup of water into the instant pot and add the foil packets on top, in a single layer.

Replace lid on instant pot and set valve to sealed. Heat on high pressure for 8 minutes.

Once time is up, quick release the steam. After pin drops, open the instant pot and carefully remove the foil packets with heat-safe tongs or a spatula. Open up foil packets and serve the fish.

  • Olive oil is totally optional in this recipe, but it does add more flavor
  • This recipe calls for salt and pepper, but you can add any additional seasoning that you like on fish
  • Lime or lemon works for the slice on top of the salmon. You can also omit the slice if you prefer
