Instant Pot makes perfectly cooked steamed cauliflower – tender and crisp at the same time!
Instant Pot is great for steaming vegetables, and cauliflower is no exception! It’s super quick and easy to cook cauliflower in the Instant Pot and the results are delicious!
The cooking process for Instant Pot steamed cauliflower is the same as for Instant Pot broccoli and Instant Pot green beans. Cauliflower is cooked on “Pressure Cook” or “Manual” mode at zero minutes cooking time. By the time Instant Pot reaches pressure, the cauliflower is just right – fully cooked but still crisp and not mushy!
When the cooking time is set to zero, Instant Pot beeps as soon as it reaches full pressure (with water and cauliflower inside). At this point, the cauliflower is completely cooked! Quick release the steam from the Instant Pot right away and drain the steamed cauliflower, then rinse the cauliflower with cold water to prevent it from getting softer.

If you like your cauliflower even more crisp, one trick you can use is add a hot water to the Instant Pot instead of cold water. With hot water, Instant Pot comes to pressure even quicker which reduces the cooking time even further :) For me though, this cauliflower is simply perfect the way it is, cooked with 1/2 cup cold water at zero minutes on High pressure.

- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
- ½ cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Put water and cauliflower in the Instant Pot.
- Close the lid and turn the valve to Sealing position.
- Press the "Pressure Cook" or "Manual" button and set the time to zero.
- Instant Pot will start building the pressure and when it comes to full pressure the timer will beep (as the cooking time is set to zero).
- Quick release (QR) the steam immediately, drain the cauliflower in the colander and rinse it under cold running water to stop the cooking process.
- Season steamed cauliflower with salt and pepper to taste.
