How To Make Chocolate Chip Pancakes From Scratch

These chocolate chip pancakes have perfect texture – they are light and fluffy and so tender! Best of all, they are loaded with melted gooey chocolate chips – when you bite into these pancakes, you feel the warm melted chocolate in every bite!  I always find a way to put chocolate chips into yummy goodies – check out my chocolate chip banana bread, chocolate chip cookie cake and chocolate chip muffins!

If you ever order the chocolate chip pancakes in a restaurant, you know that they tend to skimp on chocolate chips.  They will usually have a few chocolate chips sprinkled on top of the pancakes, while the pancakes themselves are the usual plain ones with a couple of chocolate chips here and there (if you are lucky).  Well, when you make these chocolate chip pancakes yourself, you are the boss!  You get to determine how many chocolate chips each pancake gets – there is no need to ration it :) You can add as many chocolate chips as you like – my recipe calls for 1/3 cup, but feel free to add more, as there can never be too much chocolate!

These delicious pancakes are made totally from scratch, there is no pancake mix here! Making pancakes from scratch is so easy, I don’t even see a point of a pancake mix, therefore I don’t even own one.  Pancake mix is simply a mixture of flour, baking powder, sugar and salt – can’t you just mix them yourself?  Good simple basic pantry ingredients make these amazing chocolate chip pancakes from scratch in less than 15 minutes!

Making these yummy pancakes is extremely easy! All you need to do is mix the egg, milk, oil and vanilla in a bowl, then add flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and chocolate chips and stir to combine.  Your from-scratch pancake batter is ready, and you’ll only need to wash one bowl!  Drop the chocolate chip pancake batter on a non-stick skillet by a large spoon and cook the pancakes for about 2 minutes per side or until golden-brown.  Your homemade pancakes are ready! If you’d like, sprinkle even more chocolate chips on top before serving – delicious!

These pancakes are so popular in our house that I usually make a double batch! For twice as many pancakes, simply double all the ingredients :)
