This salmon is marinated in a delicious mixture of maple syrup, soy sauce and garlic, then baked in the oven until tender and flaky. For the last 5 minutes, the salmon goes under the broiler, so the maple marinade on top caramelizes and turns into a maple glaze!

Making maple glazed baked salmon is really easy. Mix the marinade, pour over salmon, marinate on the counter while oven is preheating, then bake. No standing over the frying pan – while the salmon is baked in the oven, you can make a salad or a side dish!

If you never tried the salmon and maple syrup combo, it might seem odd to you – after all, how could something that goes on pancakes go well with fish? Trust me on this one – salmon and maple syrup work very well together. You won’t be pouring maple syrup on top of a salmon on your plate :) Instead, we’ll be using maple syrup as part of a marinade that will give the salmon an amazingly deep flavor.

The maple syrup is diluted with a salty soy sauce, so it’s not as concentrated, making it into a sweet and savory marinade and glaze. Garlic powder is also added to the marinade, resulting in a taste that’s so complete, unique and simply perfect.

Maple Glazed Baked Salmon Recipe

There is something about salmon that complements the maple taste so well, it’s amazing. In most fish recipes, I interchange the types of fish without any difference in the outcome, but in this particular recipe I always stick with salmon. I just can’t picture how maple glaze would taste with other kinds of fish, I think it won’t be anywhere near as good as with the salmon. I have plenty of recipes on this site for other kinds of fish, but for this one please use salmon :)

There will be some extra maple marinade in the baking dish mixed with the pan juices, and this makes a great sauce to go on top of maple glazed baked salmon! If you are serving this salmon with rice, the extra sauce will flavor the rice as well – so tasty!

  1. This salmon looks so delicious, Melanie! I know what you mean about maple syrup not really going with other types of fish – it just doesn’t taste right. With salmon, though, it’s a match made in heaven. I actually just bought some garlic powder yesterday to use in some savoury muffins, but now I can also see it being mixed up with soy sauce and maple syrup very soon to make a quick and delicious fish dinner! :)

  2. That salmon just looks perfectly cooked! I cook salmon often because my son enjoys it as much as we do. Love the sweetness and glaze from the maple syrup.
