Do you avoid mangoes because you don’t know how to eat them? Have you tried cutting a mango but ended up with a big mess?
Don’t worry. You will know exactly how to eat a mango once you read this article. Mangoes are so tasty, and you’ll really enjoy eating them! Mango is a delicious fruit – very sweet and juicy. Mangoes taste very unique – a true tropical flavor.
Before you cut a mango, the first thing you need to do is make sure this mango is ripe. If you peel and cut a mango that is not ripe, it will not taste good. If a mango is not ripe, just leave it on the counter for a few days until it’s ready. Don’t know how to tell if the mango is ripe? See the article on how to choose a ripe mango.
Peeling and cutting a mango is really as easy as peeling and cutting an apple.
Step 1: Peel a mango
First, you peel off and discard the skin of the mango. Use a vegetable peeler to peel a mango, same way as you would have peeled an apple.
Step 2: Cut mango into slices from the sides
There is a large pit that’s called a stone inside a mango. What you need to do is to cut mango into slices from the sides, around the pit.

Step 3: Turn the mango and slice from the other side
Once the knife reaches the hard mango stone, it’s time to turn the mango and slice from the other side of the mango. Keep doing it until you finish slicing the mango, and the only thing left is the mango stone.

Step 4: Discard mango stone
Before throwing out the mango stone, you might want to eat the mango around it! There is lots of mango left on the mango pit after slicing, and there is nothing wrong with eating around the mango stone with your teeth :) I won’t tell anyone :)
Step 5: Enjoy eating the juicy mango slices
