how to cook quinoa in a rice cooker

I always use the rice cooker to cook quinoa.  Even though cooking quinoa in a pot on the stove is pretty easy, I like the rice cooker much better because there is no need to watch it – just press the button and forget about it until it’s time to eat.  Rice cooker will cook the quinoa and will keep it warm for hours – what a convenience!

However, there is a trick to cooking quinoa in a rice cooker.  The ratio of quinoa to water in a rice cooker is not the same as on the stove.  When you cook quinoa on the stove, the ratio of quinoa to water is 1 cup of quinoa and 2 cups of water.  If you try it in the rice cooker, the quinoa will be too dry!  The correct ratio of quinoa to water in the rice cooker is 1 cup of quinoa to 2 1/2 cups water.
