I always use the rice cooker to cook quinoa. Even though cooking quinoa in a pot on the stove is pretty easy, I like the rice cooker much better because there is no need to watch it – just press the button and forget about it until it’s time to eat. Rice cooker will cook the quinoa and will keep it warm for hours – what a convenience!
However, there is a trick to cooking quinoa in a rice cooker. The ratio of quinoa to water in a rice cooker is not the same as on the stove. When you cook quinoa on the stove, the ratio of quinoa to water is 1 cup of quinoa and 2 cups of water. If you try it in the rice cooker, the quinoa will be too dry! The correct ratio of quinoa to water in the rice cooker is 1 cup of quinoa to 2 1/2 cups water.
How To Cook Quinoa In A Rice Cooker
Ingredients
- 1 cup quinoa
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in a rice cooker.
- Select “White rice” cycle.
- Press the “Cook” button :)
- When the quinoa finishes cooking and you are ready to serve it, fluff quinoa with a fork.
