Strawberry Pretzel Salad is one of those classic sweet and salty desserts that everyone loves. It has a crunchy buttery pretzel crust, a smooth and creamy cheesecake-style layer, and a bright strawberry Jell-O topping loaded with juicy berries. This easy layered dessert looks beautiful in a glass dish and is perfect for holidays, potlucks, and family gatherings.
Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons sugar until combined. Press firmly into a 9x13-inch baking dish to form the crust.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until set, then remove from the oven and let the crust cool completely.
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1 cup sugar until smooth and creamy.
Fold in the whipped topping until fully combined, then spread the mixture evenly over the cooled crust, sealing all the way to the edges.
In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 2 cups of boiling water.
Stir in the frozen strawberries and let the mixture thicken slightly.
Carefully pour the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set. Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
Make sure the crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer so it stays smooth and firm.
For neat slices, chill thoroughly and wipe the knife clean between each cut.
