- 8 oz halloumi cheese
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp thyme leaves fresh, plus more for garnish
- 1/4 tsp salt to taste
- 1 tbsp neutral oil like grapeseed or canola
Instructions
- Slice the halloumi into 6–8 thick slices.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together honey, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, thyme, and a pinch of salt.
- Add the halloumi slices to the marinade, turning to coat both sides. Let marinate in the fridge for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the halloumi slices in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Transfer to a serving plate, drizzle with leftover marinade, and garnish with fresh thyme.
Notes
- Don’t leave the halloumi unattended, it browns quickly once it hits the hot pan!
- You can double the hot honey marinade if you want extra sauce for dipping or drizzling.
