Arrange the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving about 1 to 2 inches of space between them.
Bake the biscuits for 13 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the biscuits bake, place the sausage crumbles in a large skillet over medium heat and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently, until heated through.
Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir until the sausage is evenly coated.
Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously to combine it with the sausage and flour.
Continue cooking and stirring until the gravy thickens and begins to boil.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the salt and black pepper, then taste and adjust the seasoning if desired.
Split the warm biscuits in half, place 2 biscuit halves on each plate, and spoon about 1/3 cup of sausage gravy over the top. Serve immediately.
Notes
Add a small splash of milk when reheating the gravy if it becomes too thick.
Store the biscuits and sausage gravy separately for the best texture.
