This Vanilla Cinnamon Milk Tea is a cozy homemade drink made with warm cinnamon, fragrant vanilla, creamy milk, and optional black tea. It has a smooth, comforting flavor that is easy to make right on the stovetop. Enjoy this creamy cinnamon vanilla milk tea hot or turn it into a refreshing iced drink.
1vanilla beansplit and scraped, or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1black tea bagor 1 teaspoon loose-leaf black tea, optional
1tspsugarhoney, or another sweetener of choice
1star aniseoptional
1/8tspground cinnamonfor garnish
Instructions
Pour the water into a small pot and bring it to a low boil.
Add the cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, and star anise if using. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. If using ground cinnamon and vanilla extract instead, add them to the water without the additional steeping time.
Let the cinnamon and vanilla steep in the simmering water for 10 minutes.
Strain the vanilla cinnamon mixture into a mug, then add the black tea bag or loose-leaf tea if using.
Let the tea brew for 5 minutes, then remove the tea and stir in the sweetener.
Warm the milk separately until hot but not boiling. Froth it if desired.
Pour the warm milk into the tea and stir to combine.
Sprinkle with 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon and serve.
Notes
For iced milk tea, cool the prepared tea and serve it over ice.
