These Matcha Cookies with Chocolate Chips are soft and chewy with a delicious matcha flavor. A delightfully unique cookie, you'll love them with a cup of coffee or tea.
Place a stick of butter in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Melt the butter in the microwave.
Add the sugars on top of the butter and use a fork to combine.
Add one egg and mix more to combine.
Top the mixture with the match powder and stir to incorporate.
Next add the flour and sprinkle on the baking soda and salt. Use fork to mix everything together. At this point the dough will be thick.
Add chocolate chips and gently fold them into the cookie dough.
Using your hands, shape the cookie dough into balls. About 1/4 cup of dough per cookie. And place the cookie dough balls on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. This recipe will make about 12 cookies, so be sure to give each one space as they spread out during baking.
Finally, gently press each cookie dough ball to slightly flatten it.
Bake for 12 minutes for chewy cookies. If you prefer crunchier cookies, add a few more minutes.
Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool.

Notes
If there are brown sugar lumps while mixing, use the fork to break them up and combine with the white sugar and butter
While adding the matcha powder, you may need to scrap the sides of the mixing bowl to incorporate all of the powder into the mixture
Allow 30 minutes for the cookies to cool. This is necessary for them to hold their shape.
