In Costco, I bought these roasted seaweed snacks, and they are really yummy!  The brand of roasted seaweed is JayOne, and there are 24 individually packaged seaweed snacks in the Costco box.  I love Costco seaweed salad, and I also like roasted seaweed that I buy in sheets for making California sushi rolls, so when I saw these roasted seaweed snacks I figured there is a good chance I’ll like them.  And I was right – these Costco roasted seaweed snacks are very tasty.  Even my 7-year-old and 5-year-old kids loved the roasted seaweed snacks!

On the package, these seaweed snacks are described as “Roasted and Lightly Salted Seaweed. 100% Natural.  Kim or Korean Seaweed is a bit different from the other seaweed offerings.  Jayone’s Seaweed is lightly roasted then lightly salted for an exquisite, healthy treat everyone will love!  Kim is now a staple in Korean cuisine and is quickly developing a cult following in other parts of the world thanks to its many health benefits”.

When I see packaged snacks, I always assume they have preservatives.  Surprisingly, these Costco seaweed snacks from Jayone have no preservatives!  The ingredient list for the seaweed snacks is pretty simple: seaweed, corn oil, sesame oil, perilla oil and salt.  That’s so nice to have a snack without chemicals!

The nutritional information for Jayone seaweed snack packs from Costco is: serving size 1 pack, 30 calories, 2 grams of fat, zero saturated fat, zero cholesterol, 50 mg sodium, 1 gram of fiber, 1 gram of protein, 8% of vitamin A, 20% of vitamin C, 2% of iron.  It’s a perfect snack – just 30 calories, has vitamins and no preservatives!  Plus seaweed is a great source of Iodine.

  1. Just purchased the Costco brand today. It is way too salty and oily. The Jayone was $9.69 per case of 24 pkgs. The Kirland is only 10 pkgs. at $6.99. Granted the total volume is 6. oz vs. 4.08 oz of the Jayone, but the Jayone tasted better and was in perfect portions for kids snacks.

I will have to find the Jayone elsewhere and this Kirkland seaweed is going back. It is a good way to let them know we don’t like it!

  2. The Costco in Cleveland, Ohio just started carrying the Kirkland brand, which I agree is salty and a bit oily but still decent. Have never seen the Jayone brand and as we have all experienced at Costco, eventually they replace everything with Kirkland products.

  3. I absolute fell in love with Jayone seaweed from Costco and quite upset when I tasted the inferior Kirkland Signature brand. It has more than triple the salt and oily and is in edible now. With one package I hushed a pastry brush to brush some of the salt of each sheet and by the end I had a plate full of salt. I’m returning the other package. Everyone should write Costco an email saying we want Jayone back again. It was the tastiest treat I’ve had in a long time.

  4. I have a box that was expired on Aug31/13. What is the danger of eating expired unopened packages? I tried one and it tasted alright.
