If you like McDonald’s Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwich, did you know that you can make an Egg McMuffin yourself?  Homemade Egg McMuffin recipe is very easy to make and very tasty.  Best of all, homemade Egg McMuffin is much healthier than the one from McDonalds, and it’s much cheaper too!

To make an Egg McMuffin, you need an English muffin, egg and a slice of cheese.  If you wish, you can also add a slice of Canadian bacon or ham.  The egg is cooked, the English muffin is toasted, and when the Egg McMuffin is assembled, the hot egg melts the cheese!

The easiest way to cook the egg for an Egg McMuffin is to use a microwave.  To cook the egg in a microwave in the shape of egg patty, you can use a regular microwave-safe mug.  Crack the egg into the cup, whisk with a fork and wrap the top of the cup tightly with a plastic wrap.   If you don’t want to use the plastic wrap, you can put a saucer on top of the cup to cover.  Microwave on High for 50 seconds and the egg will be perfectly cooked!   And of course, you can use the plastic microwave egg poacher instead of the cup – they sell them in all major supermarket for just a couple of bucks!

Before you start cooking the egg, split the English muffin and cook it in a toaster.  When the egg is ready, your English muffin will be toasted and warm!  Put the slice of cheese on an English muffin, put the hot egg patty on top of cheese and cover with the English muffin top.  If you want, you can add bacon or ham on top of the egg – you can cook them in a microwave too :)

Now your Egg McMuffin is ready to eat!  Sinking your teeth into a warm yummy Egg McMuffin is a perfect way to start the day!
