Even the pickiest eaters usually like grapes, bananas, strawberries and marshmallows, especially when presented in the shape of the Grinch!
Christmas Grinch fruit skewers are a great project to make with the kids. Children will love putting together Grinch’s head in the Santa’s hat! And it will be so fun to eat the Grinch all up! You can even go as far as drawing the Grinch’s face with the cake decorating writing gel 🙂
Edible writing gel is usually found in most large supermarkets in the baking isle next to the sprinkles. All you need to do to use it is cut off the tip of the gel bottle, then squeeze it and draw the faces!
The Grinch faces will rub off if the fruit skewers are stacked on top of each other and touching, so if you intend on making large quantities of these Grinch fruit kabobs, leave the faces off. If you are just making one plate of these fruit kabobs, faces can make them even more fun!
Making the Grinch fruit kabobs is super easy. No cooking is needed, and you can assemble them in 5 minutes flat! Make them no longer than 1 hour before the party to avoid browning of the bananas.
Here’s what you need: green grapes, banana, strawberries, mini-marshmallows and toothpicks. First, slice the banana into thin rounds. Then cut the bottom off the strawberry. Next, stack the strawberry and banana together. If the strawberry is large, you’ll see that it’s circumference is much larger than banana, and in this case, cut off more from the strawberry until the size of the strawberry bottom is the same as the banana round. Put the toothpick inside the grape, then tread the banana, strawberry and mini marshmallow onto the toothpick, so the marshmallow is on the very top.
If the toothpick is too short and is not sticking out from the bottom of the grape, insert another toothpick into the bottom of the grape, so people have the toothpick to grab on to. If desired, draw the Grinch faces using the edible writing gel pen. That’s all there is to making these Christmas Grinch fruit kabobs!
